                   November 12, 2001, Kelowna B.C.

On November 12, 2001 I turned 27.

As a Gift, My Mom bought me tickets to see One of my alltime Favorite bands in Concert, LEAHY, they were playing in Kelowna BC, she lives in Vernon BC, (About an hour from Kelowna, 8 hours South for me)
But, That 8 hour drive was nothing, I would've driven twice that to see them in concert! Was a Fabulous Show!

Bruce Guthro opened the show for them, He was pretty good, played 7 or 8 songs, couple really good ones.

Then It was LEAHY's turn to take the stage. From the first song all the way to the finish, it was a total High Energy, Fast Paced Musical Ride. What a Performance!!
As well as talented Musicians, they are wonderful Highland dancers...
After the show, they signed autographs, so I got to meet them all, (all 9 of them) and got a poster signed.
I chatted golf with a couple of them, I told Angus if they ever made it up to PG for a show, I'd take him to our snazzy golf course here.
After they were done doing the Autographs, I was able to get a group photo with most of the band (Donnell and Denise were still busy)....but the photo is below.
I waited around to talk to Donnell and got a photo with him too.

All in All, was a great Birthday, A Million Thanks goes out to My Mom!

Another Thanks goes out to my friends Garv and Emily too, they made the drive with me too see the show, and also had a great time.

Leahy - Leahy

                               March 1, 2002 Vernon B.C.

My second trip to see Leahy, was down to Vernon, British Columbia, a seven hour drive south from where I live, in the dead of winter, but, that was nothing!!

Vernon is a really nice little town, of about 35,000 people, in the Okanogan in south central B.C. A Brand New Performing Arts Center was just opened, and it is just beautiful....a great setting for a concert.

The Opening act, was a local Jazz Trio......The Frazer Lent Wall Trio (one of the Members, is the Guitar teacher of my Brother. Right away during the first song they played, I could tell which member, similar playing styles).....But, that guy was just awesome, he was a hoot to watch for a couple tunes.......his face, he was playing so hard, so fast!!!, it was cool!

But, then it was Leahy.......and one of these days, Ill see all nine members perform at the same time!! this time Denise was missing, she does most of the vocals, but, with them, Family is first, and she went home to be with her family, so, thats understandable.

Allot of the show, was similar to the the last show, with a few differences. (Denise missing etc).....Donnell is amazing on his fiddle, (Doug and Angus are no slouches either).......but, on this night, I was particularly impressed with Erin.......she was fantastic!! she played 4 or 5 different instruments! Shes the Keyboardist (well, one of them, Angnes does some as well)

And, when you here the Donnell on his fiddle, just a givinger.......Erin is going just as fast on her Keyboard!!, its amazing to watch.....

One tune they played, I hadnt seen before, as it was only the second time theyve played it live. It is a really nice little tune, that Erin and Sibeohen play to warm up backstage, before every show......the night before, they were put on the spot, and talked into playing it live, for the very first time......our show was the second time..... all it was, was, Erin on the fiddle, (little bit of vocals) and Sibeohen on her Bass Guitar.......very nice tune.

After that tune....

Erin......Refused to give the Fiddle back to Donnell.......she played lead fiddle for the next song......with Donnell sitting back, shaking his head....she played the first verse, normal....the second verse, she had the fiddle UPSIDE-DOWN!......the third verse, she was bent over, and playing the fiddle, Between her legs, behind her back!!.......then she played it while Tap Dancing!! Was just hilarious to watch......and the talent is just amazing!

They played all the Favorites from both CDs. From "The Call To Dance" right through to "Mission"..........as well as a couple cover songs....such as, "The Orange Blossom Special", which was just the coolest!!......And, again, listening to them play "Borrowed Time", was hard for me. I still miss my friend alot.

All in All, a Great show, A Wonderfull night, My girlfriend, Amanda, had an absolute blast too. Just loved the show.

I got a couple photos autographed. Chatted golf....Promoted Prince George to them again.....(we have a sweet golf course here, that I know theyd all just LOVE to play it....so. ya, gotta mention that!!)

One Day I'll see them play here, no 7 or 8 hour drive........but, till then, Bring On The RoadTrips!!
